TRAVEL SKETCHING AT THE EVANSTON ART CENTER
August 2/3; Sat/Sun 10:00am - 2:00pm How best to combine your love of drawing and travel? Learn to maximize your time as you sketch your vision and draw landscapes using elements of composition. Learn basic forms of line and color and gesture as applied to landscapes and the use of color to enhance renderings. Using water-based pens and colored pencils, students bring travel sketch books to Chicago Botanical Gardens and the Cuneo Estate in Libertyville. LANDSCAPE PAINTING and DRAWING in COREA, MAINE
TWO-DAY WORKSHOP Friday/Saturday August 16/17 $140. Spend the day drawing and painting in the untouristed, picturesque lobstering harbor of Downeast Maine. Learn how to extract your vision from the landscape. Emphasis on composition, gesture, form and value. Come see the beauty of Ireland through artist’s eyes! The Irish Landscape Workshop with Nina Weiss takes students to the dramatic and timeless landscape of Irelands’ west coast. Designed for artists and art lovers at all artistic levels, this workshop allows students working in various mediums an intensive exploration of the rustic and rolling landscapes meeting the Atlantic Sea north and west of the city of Galway. Students will experience the natural beauty of the Irish Landscape while enjoying the comfort of four-star hotels, gourmet dining, and the charm of local food, crafts, and music. Our seaside accommodations allow for exploration of both land and seascapes. Working a plein-aire, students will learn to extract their visions from these inspirational landscapes through sketches, drawing, painting, and photographic reference. MONTHLY CRITIQUE AND WORKSHOP SPRING 2008
SPRING SCHEDULE: Tuesday evenings March 18, April 29th, May 27th. This is a monthly class for students working independantly in various mediums (including pastel, gouache, acrylic and oil paints) who wish to recieve feedback and group inspiration in a studio setting. We will critique finished works, and works in progress. Students will then have studio time to work and recieve instruction. from 6 - 9:00 pm. We meet at the PETER JONES STUDIO located at 1806 West Cuyler on the corner of Cuyler and Ravenswood, on the 2nd Floor. One block North of the Irving Park CTA Brown Line Stop, and just West of the Metra tracks Please note that Ravenswood runs on both sides of the Metra Tracks. You must be on the Western side of the tracks in order to find the Gallery.

ITALIAN LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP WITH NINA WEISS June 26th - July 8th $2,125 At the Monastero SS. Annunziata, Todi, and La Torretta, Casperia. Study, paint and draw the breathtaking landscape surrounding the medieval hill town of Todi, in Umbria. Todi is a sophisticated town of gothic palazzi, narrow winding streets, and a magnificent central piazza. The town is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and sunflower fields. Casperia, an hour south of Todi in the Lazio region, nestled in the beautiful Sabine hills, offers a striking landscape, in a tiny, medieval, traffic free town of winding cobblestone streets. Working on site, students will learn to extract their visions from this inspirational landscape, working with pastel, gouache, charcoal, and pencil. In Todi, students will be housed and take meals in a newly rennovated monestary. La Torretta in Casperia is a rennovated 15th century villa with stunning views from all rooms. Studio space is available. Price includes field trip to Orvieto, Deruta and Tivoli; twelve nights and thirteen days, most meals, coffee and wine, transportation to and from Leonardo da Vinci Airport, daily support van to landscape sites, instruction, Application and deposit required.
